"WALK OUR TALK" ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

Peace be With You!

In a world where many people and situations seem to be beyond our control, it is comforting to realize that the one person we can control is ourselves. In every moment we encounter, we have the choice how we will react. It is through God’s grace that we can maintain a sense of calmness and peace in the face of our daily struggles. Nothing is impossible for God!

We have been called by Jesus to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” He also said, “You must love your neighbour as yourself.”(Mt 22:37-40) As we live life with one another each day here on earth, these are the two commandments He asks us to establish as the foundation for all our actions. As Christians, we have a tremendous benefit in God’s promise of our eternal life, but we also have an important responsibility to

walk our talk”. There is an expression that says: People may believe what you say, but they will always believe what you do. If we say that we are Christians who love God and our neighbours, then our actions should be our daily testimony to that fact. Consider how your day begins. Do you start with prayer and time with God’s Word, or do you check your social media sites and/or your phone for missed messages? How do you react to the person at work who drives you crazy? Each one of us is called to evangelize; it is through our actions that those around us can see and experience the love of Christ. Is this easy to do? Of course not. Nothing worth doing ever comes easily. But, Jesus asks us to wake up each morning, pick up our cross, and follow Him. He has shown us the path but the choice to walk, or not, remains with us.

Challenge: Take a moment of reflection to honestly consider the ways you have demonstrated your love for God and neighbour this week. The Good News is that every day is a fresh opportunity to do things right, and that is a commitment worth making.

May you be a testament to God’s love in the week ahead!
